Who can use this feature?

By default, Admin Users and System Administrators

Purpose

This Admin page is used to add and manage material types for lab testing. Once added, these materials can be referenced in Configurable Forms & Reports/Other Materials.

Available actions:

  • Manage existing material types (edit, deactivate, delete, etc.)
  • Add new materials for lab testing in Lab (LIMS) module

Managing Your Materials

Use filters at the top of the page to search for materials by name or status.

These icons allow you to quickly complete other actions for the selected material:

  • History (🗓️): View history of the material (creator, creation date, etc.)
  • Deactivate (◼️): Deactivate the material and remove it from the list
  • Edit (✏️): Alter material info; press Save to confirm changes
  • Delete (✖): Delete the material

Adding Materials: What to Expect

When adding a new specification, you'll provide the following:

  • Name: The name of the specification
  • Specification Type: The type of test the specification applies to
  • Project Restricted: If set to Yes, the specification will only be available to forms associated with the specified project(s)
  • Enable Tolerances: If enabled, test results can be compared against an expected value within an acceptable range
  • Materials : One or more material types the specification applies to
  • Specification Value: The value or parameter used to evaluate measurements

Each specification can include multiple Variants, which allow you to define different sets of values for the same Specification Value. This is useful for tailoring the same specification to different use cases or conditions.

The new material can now be assigned to a form as the Test Material. (Admin > Form Designer > Edit Form > Form Settings > Test Material)
